Wizardry Student Box _ August 2017

Unboxing WSB August 2017

Hi guys, today i bring another unboxing but this time it is a totally new subscription box named Wizardry Student Box (WSB) and i will give all the details before i start the review of this month.

So this is a bimonthly box, it is only released every two months and the first one was released in August 2017.
Every box will contain 4 to 7 items Harry Potter related:
- 1 or 2 handmade items
- 1 or 2 House related items
- 1 exclusive item
- 1 or 2 items related with each school year

When you subscribe you have to tell your t shirt size and which Hogwarts house you belong to. The box cost me 30 € (about 27,76£) already with shipment and this is only for a month box, you could also chose other payment options: 4 boxes for 115 € (about 106,45£) or 7 boxes for 190 € (about 175,89£).

This box is sponsored by the online shop called "Loja da Magia" and i will leave the sites bellow for you to take a look.

http://www.lojadamagia.pt/
http://wizardry.nloja.com/

So without further ado let's start this unboxing =D

So when you open the box this is what you are going to see.

Let me talk a little about the package, i personally like the simplicity of this box in terms of packaging because it makes me feel like a real wizard receiving orders from Diagon Alley. I also like a lot the little blue stamp that you guys can see in the image, it is the Hogwarts crest and i think mine is blue because i'm a Ravenclaw student.

I think they were extremely careful with the order and with the way they packed things and they try to make sure nothing will be broken in the mail so in my opinion 5 * for packing.

The only thing i think they could change is the design of the exterior box, it could include some mention of what subscription it is and not be all plain but since this is the first box i understand.

I have to confess that i went nuts when i see this package =) because i see the little note that says "The wand choose the wizard" .

Like you guys know already i'm doing the wand collection of all characters but to have my own wand is something i always want, so it is amazing to receive one in this box.

The wand that chose me is a metallic purple with a gemstone at the bottom like you can see in these images.

It is not to heavy and the length is perfect for me =D i was so happy with it.

In the little paper with the description of all items i read that each box have a different and personalized wand and i think it to be a great touch to this box.

We you open the other package this is what you are going to see.

The guide with all the items of this book was printed in a paper that resemble the marauders map, again i like it and i think it is a good little detail.

I was expecting to see a t shirt and when i open this i do not see any so i was for a second disappointed, but them....
OH My God!!!!!

They include the new philosopher stone house edition in the box!

I could not tell you guys how happy i am with this book. Earlier today i went to Fnac and i was with this copy in my hands , but i decided not to buy it yet .

Now i'm so so so happy that i do not buy it and that this box brings it to me. The books are house related so if you subscribe with for example Slytherin you are receiving the green copy of this book.

In my honest opinion i prefer this one to a shirt for sure!

The next item is a replica of the Hogwarts Express ticket .

I do not have one yet so i again was glad that they include this in the box, and i'm thinking i will put it on a frame and hang it on my wall.

Next we received a poster with the famous sentence " it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" from Dumbledore also with a owl shape and the Hogwarts express silhouette.

The last items in this month box are two little bottles of potions with the description of Amortentia and Felix Felicis and a sorting hat key chain.

I like them and i think i will put them in my shelf next to my other harry potter stuff.

In resume this month box have 7 items and of course my favorite one is the book followed close by the wand, if i have to choose a less favorite item i think it will be the key chain.

I will order the next box of course and it will be delivered next October, i'm expecting something Halloween related since it comes in that time of year and also some shirt but since this one surprised me so much i do not know if i will be right with my guesses or not.

Also i'm very curious to see the other wands that people received with this fantastic box so if you order one of those please let me know and show some pictures of it =D

Book Review: The Seduction of Lord Stone (Dashing Widows #1) by Anna Campbell

The Seduction of Lord Stone

by Anna Campbell

"For this reckless widow, love is the most dangerous game of all.
Caroline, Lady Beaumont, arrives in London seeking excitement after ten dreary years of marriage and an even drearier year of mourning. That means conquering society, dancing like there’s no tomorrow, and taking a lover to provide passion without promises. Promises, in this dashing widow’s dictionary, equal prison. So what is an adventurous lady to do when she loses her heart to a notorious rake who, for the first time in his life, wants forever?

Devilish Silas Nash, Viscount Stone is in love at last with a beautiful, headstrong widow bent on playing the field. Worse, she’s enlisted his help to set her up with his disreputable best friend. No red-blooded man takes such a challenge lying down, and Silas schemes to seduce his darling into his arms, warm, willing and besotted. But will his passionate plots come undone against a woman determined to act the mistress, but never the wife? "

My Review:
I start this one because i just need a book that is not complicated to read (you guy's know that some books like mystery or suspense or even paranormal ones can be a little overwhelming) so with a historical romance i think i will be ok and it really was a great book to relax a bit.
The story is sweet but a little foreseeable, i think the blame is on me because i have read so many historical romances that i can already guess what will happen in the book.
I really like the scene at the greenhouse and i love the way Silas plan work in his favor. I have to tell that i will definitely read the next books on this series and that i was so happy to see the pair for book 3 =D

I give this 3 out of 5*, because it is a good book but nothing outside the box. Like i already said the final was foreseeable but i recommend it to someone you just need a good read and some romance.

Book Review: The Last Star (The 5th Wave #3) by Rick Yancey

The Last Star

by Rick Yancey

"The enemy is Other. The enemy is us.

They’re down here, they’re up there, they’re nowhere. They want the Earth, they want us to have it. They came to wipe us out, they came to save us.

But beneath these riddles lies one truth: Cassie has been betrayed. So has Ringer. Zombie. Nugget. And all 7.5 billion people who used to live on our planet. Betrayed first by the Others, and now by ourselves.

In these last days, Earth’s remaining survivors will need to decide what’s more important: saving themselves…or saving what makes us human."

My Review:

I have to be honest with you guy's, i do not love this book! For me this series have so much potential, i really love the first book and read it in a few hours but the next ones..... not so much and it is such a pity.

The idea behind this books are amazing a pos apocalypse is in general a genre i like a lot, but the concept is not enougth to make a good book. The plot of this one became so confused that sometimes i cautch myshelf not knowing what is truth or not, like there are aliens or there are not???

The romance we see in the previous books are so "boring" in this one, Cassie can not decide if she loves Evan or not, Zombie and Ringer are another confusion.... i do not understand any of it....
And the final.... Oh my god, like.... really this do not make a good final for this kind of book, i was expecting a lot more and i end up with the sensation that the story is not finished.

I give this book 2 out of 5* unfortunaly this is not the final i was expecting and i only hope that many readers will not end up with the same opinion that i have.

Book Review: Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop

Written in Red

by Anne Bishop

"No one creates realms like New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop. Now in a thrilling new fantasy series, enter a world inhabited by the Others, unearthly entities—vampires and shape-shifters among them—who rule the Earth and whose prey are humans.

As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut—a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg’s Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard—a business district operated by the Others.

Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow"

My Review:

Do you guy's know the saying "Do not judge a book by its cover"?
In this case this do not apply, i have to tell you that i fell in love with the book cover the instant i see it and since it is a new book from Anne Bishop i end up buying it.

The worlds created by Bishop are always complex and marvelous and this one is not a exception. Before the humans are created there is a race that inhabit the planet called Others and they are still among us.

In this first book we can see the dynamic between the humans and the Others and how both races survive one another. There is a patio created in every great human city almost like a consulate, where the other live and control the humans. In this patios the only rules that applies are the one's the others define and humans are not tolerated in them.
The only exception is the Lakeside patio!

Simon Wolfgard is a Shape-shifter that can turn into a great wolf and he is the leader of Lakeside patio. He decided that the contact with humans can benefit the others and so there are some shop's in the patio that allow human costumers, including his bookshop "Read and howl for more".
When human Meg enter in the shop in a freezing weather looking for job Simon can not refuse to help her, but Meg is not a normal human and this is the beginning of this story.

The first part of this book is a little overwhelming because we are introduced to so many different races and so many different ideas. Like there are Shape-shifters (wolfs, bears, owls, crows, etc...) there are vampires, there are the elementals (girls that personify the Winter, Summer or even Air or wind) and even a race that are called Cassandra Sangue (some humans that when they bleed they see prophecy's of the future).

Meg is a Cassandra Sangue that escape her controller and is in the run, she accept the job in the patio because is the only place where he cannot reach her. After just a few days in the new job Meg is accepted by the Others like one of them and when a human tries to abduct her this start's a war between humans and others.

I really love this book and like we are used to Bishop's writing transport us to another place altogether. I have read many shape-shifter books or even vampire one's but in this one the ideals of this races are not something we are used to read. In this world these characters are "monsters" they do not feel sympathy for the human and only tolerated them but really they see humans as food with brains, with a few exceptions.

After you get used to the new environment you start to get involved in the story and you want to know more about Meg and all the others in the patio. I really want to know what will happens now that Meg is openly protected by them and after the humans realize what the others can do.

If you like the previous books from Anne Bishop i recommend this one to you, and i only hope that the next one in the collection will be as good or even better than the first.

I give this book 3 out of 5 * (really it is more like 3,5 *) and i only give it and not 4 or more because like most first books there are so many explanations about the world and all the characters that you sometimes do not see many action. Oh do not get me wrong there is action in this book, but only at the final and i would like to see more of it in the entire book.

Book Review: The Darkest Torment (Lords of the Underworld #12) by Gena Showalter

The Darkest Torment

by Gena Showalter

"Can Beauty tame her Beast?

Driven to his death by the demon of Distrust, Baden spent centuries in purgatory. Now he's back, but at what cost? Bound to the king of the underworld, an even darker force, he's unable to withstand the touch of another and he's quickly devolving into a heartless assassin with an uncontrollable temper. Things only get worse when a mission goes awry and he finds himself saddled with a bride just not his own.

Famed dog trainer Katarina Joelle is forced to marry a monster to protect her loved ones. When she's taken hostage by the ruthless, beautiful Baden immediately after the ceremony, she's plunged into a war between two evilswith a protector more dangerous than the monsters he hunts. They are meant to be enemies, but neither can resist the passion burning between them and all too soon the biggest threat is to her heart.
But as Baden slips deeper into the abyss, she'll have to teach him to love or lose him forever.

Includes Q&A featuring J. R. Ward, Jeaniene Frost, Nalini Singh and more!"

My Review:

First things first, i have to say that Gena Showalter can create worlds and character's like nobody, OMG i completely forget that when i start a book from LOTU's series i can not put it down.
I have also to admit that i was not much excited for this particular book, since Baden was the "Lord" i knew less about. I want Cameo book or even William's, so when i learn that the next one would be Baden i though "well let's see".
Again i could not have been more wrong, i completely love this story and Baden =D i really like his mate, Katarina. For those of you that don't known, i love love love animals and particularly i love dog's, so i immediately feel a deep connection with Baden's heroine.

In this book we are given a little more information about Hade's and William and i have to say that i end up much more curious about them. Cameo is also mentioned more his one and i think i will really like her story but right now i'm dying to know more about Gilliam OMG i do not see that one coming.

About the pair Baden/Katarina, i catch myself laughing almost every scene with this two, i love the evolution of Katarina and i really think she is the right person for him, but really she train him like a dog =D what a blast!!!

What really surprise me in this book, again was the final relation between Baden and Pandora, i was not expecting this (and i think i'm repeating myself in all the review but really i could not expect any of the stuff that happens in Gena writings).

These book's always make me feel so good and at the same time so sad when they end, i really enjoy the little compendium at the end of this one and i would like for every one of them to have it also.

I give this one 4 out of 5*, i debate with myself if it does not deserve the 5* but i could not give it only because there is not much advance in the general story in this book, the Lord's do not obtain a new clue about the artifacts or any other important subject, so i think it is a really great book but it does not add much to the general plot line.

Book Review: The Apprentice by Tess Gerritsen

The Apprentice

by Tess Gerritsen

" THE APPRENTICEIt is a boiling hot Boston summer. Adding to the city's woes is a series of shocking crimes, in which wealthy men are made to watch while their wives are brutalized. A sadistic demand that ends in abduction and death.

The pattern suggests one man: serial killer Warren Hoyt, recently removed from the city's streets. Police can only assume an acolyte is at large, a maniac basing his attacks on the twisted medical techniques of the madman he so admires. At least that's what Detective Jane Rizzoli thinks. Forced again to confront the killer who scarred her - literally and figuratively - she is determined to finally end Hoyt's awful influence . . . even if it means receiving more resistance from her all-male homicide squad.

But Rizzoli isn't counting on the U.S. government's sudden interest. Or on meeting Special Agent Gabriel Dean, who knows more than he will tell. Most of all, she isn't counting on becoming a target herself, once Hoyt is suddenly free, joining his mysterious blood brother in a vicious vendetta. . . .

Filled with superbly created characters and the medical and police procedural details that are her trademark,The Apprentice is Tess Gerritsen at her brilliant best. Set in a stunning world where evil is easy to learn and hard to end, this is a thriller by a master who could teach other authors a thing or two."

My Review:

I have read the first book in this series a long time ago and i'm being honest when i tell you guy's that i do not remember any of it, so when i start this book i was a little afraid i will not understand some possible references.
It was a foolish fear because the author explained all that was needed from the previous book and the basic context for this story, so i end up enjoying this book very much.

I buy it in a impulse in the Lisbon Book fair because it was so cheap and because i was seeing the TV series , and i'm so glad i did because this is a great one.
There is not many similarities with the character's from the TV and the dynamic between Rizzoli and Isle's in this book does not exist, i do not know if it is because it's the second book and their relationship will evolve or if it does not exist in the books whatsoever.

Although the little differences i enjoy the story, it is a tough one because of the context and the explicit scenes of violence but in my opinion this only increases the reality of the book and it makes us think about such themes. I will confess that while reading some parts of this book i went to check if my windows and door are perfectly closed for the night.

In the final of the book i was a little "Oh My God" is this really happening, the destiny of some character's, namely Warren Hoyt left me with a sense that this story is not finished and that we will see a lot.

I already have the next book in my TBR shelf so i think i will be reading it in the next few months.

In resume i give this one 4 out of 5*, it is a book that held us captives and that makes us shiver with fear in the right parts. A great ready for a cozy night!

New Wand Collection_ Wand #2

Cherry Wood with Dragon Core

Hi guy's I'm back with the second made by me wand in my new collection.

I love the universe of Harry Potter and I love all the wands from it. I start collecting the characters wands but I want to built some of my own creation so here is the second one I made.

This one was inspired by Neville's wand, it was built with white clay and a tricot nail for supporter. I paint it with black and chocolate brown.

Here are some imagens and i hope you like and give me some comments 😀

New Wand Collection_ Wand #1

Vine Wood and Unicorn Core

Hi guy's i'm back for another Harry Potter related post. I like almost HP fans love all the merchandize from the universe that was created by J.K.Rowling and of course it includes wands.

I always have the dream of buying my own wand and I'm always imagining what it would be like. Now I decided to make some experiences as wand maker and I really want your opinion on the end result.

So the first wand I made is a simple one with a spiral pattern all over it and some leafs on the bottom.
I choose a brown almost like ground tone to paint this wand.

It was built with white clay and a tricot nail for support. And here are some imagens I hope you guy's like it 😆

Wizardry Student Box _ February 2018

Unboxing WSB February 2018 Hi guys, today i bring another unboxing but this time it is a totally new subscription box named  Wizardry...
