Geekgear box_ World of Wizardry September 2017

Unboxing WoW September 2017

Hi guys, i'm back for another unboxing, this one is the geek gear box for September 2017. I know this is rater late this month, but i only received my book the previous week.

For those of you who do not know this box, it is a monthly subscription one with a price of 19.99 £ (about 22.68 €) and a shipping cost outside UK of 5.99£ (about 6.69 €). It always brings a t shirt and more 5 or 6 items all related to the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Every month we received clues about what the box will going to contain, and the clues for September were:
1- Niffler
2- Newt Scamander
3- Hogwarts Express

So without further ado let's start with this month goodies =D

This month box brings a pair of socks with your hogwarts house colors and since i'm a Ranvenclaw mine are blue and bronze.
I have to admite i really like that geek gear do stuff in Ravenclaw real colors, it is one thing that gets me really pissed out when Ravenclaw merchandise are in colors from the movie.

The next item we have this month is a rubber key-chain, mine is the dark mark symbol however i know that there are 4 different designs. (Snitch, Deathly Hallows, Dark Mark and Hogwarts crest). I'm not found of the dark arts but i tend to like the dark mark design, so i'm happy i received this one.

This box also include a collective figure of Harry Potter himself and i was curious to see if this is a isolated item or if there will be others like the collectible pins.
I like the material and the design of the figure, i have to be honest i would prefer a funko pop but this one is also good, it is more serious if you know what i mean.

This moth shirt is a vibrant blue one with a niffler in it. There are a lot of stuff like coins and diamonds all around and the sentence " Every Day i'm Nifflin".
This is my favourite fantastic beast so i'm quite happy with this design and i will definitly be using it a lot.
This shirt are the answer to one of the clues and i was not expecting it to be on the shirt, i think i expected it to be a niffler pin or a niffler figure.

After we have a wand =D and OMG i was so happy with this! For those of you that do not know i'm doing a wand collection so i really love when i received wands.

This one is also related to a clue and of course it's Newts wand, it is the first one i have from Fantastic beasts but i do not mind a little and i really like it.

The last thing in this month box is a print of the hogwarts express. Again it is related to the last clue we got and again i was not expecting it to be the print.
It is fine but i do not love it and in my opinion we have received better pints that this one.

If i have to rate this box i will give it 3 out of 5*, there are items i love but in general they are not great.
The thing i like most is of course the wand and the one i could dismiss more easly is the print.

I will not received the October box but i hope i will be back in November with the Christmas one =D

Book Review: Cidade dos Ossos (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare

Cidade dos Ossos

 by Cassandra Clare

"When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end."

My Review:

I have know about this series a long time ago and also i had this particular book in my TBR list a few months. One day i stumble upon it in a store and since it was with a promotion i decided to buy it but i never feel the desire to star reading it.

Now i decided to read a certain book but i forgot it at my parents house and one of the few book i have with me is this one, so i started it and it was one of the best things i could have done.

I really like this story and the general plot idea. Of course i have already heard about the shadowhunters and this world created by Clare but i do not know details about it.
So the book start with a fast pace where you can see Claire (the main character) seeing a murder in a clube she goes too, after that night her world is completly changed.

I like all the characters but i have to say my personnal favorite is Simon, and of course in the final of this volume i have a huge surprise that i could not have imagined.... but i do not know if i belive it or not!!!! I will have to read the next book of this series to confirm my suspect.

If you are a fan of young adult fantasy i think you will enjoy this story, i personaly gave this book a rate of 3 out of 5*. If you have already read this book tell me in the comments bellow what do you think of it.

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter #1) by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

by J.K. Rowling

"Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw … Twenty years ago these magical words and many more flowed from a young writer’s pen, an orphan called Harry Potter was freed from the cupboard under the stairs – and a global phenomenon started. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has been read and loved by every new generation since. To mark the 20th anniversary of first publication, Bloomsbury is publishing four House Editions of J.K. Rowling’s modern classic. These stunning editions will each feature the individual house crest on the jacket and sprayed edges in the house colours. Exciting new extra content will include fact files, profiles of favourite characters and line illustrations exclusive to that house. Available for a limited period only, these highly collectable editions will be a must-have for all Harry Potter fans in 2017)
Harry Potter's life is miserable. His parents are dead and he's stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he's a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

After a lifetime of bottling up his magical powers, Harry finally feels like a normal kid. But even within the Wizarding community, he is special. He is the boy who lived: the only person to have ever survived a killing curse inflicted by the evil Lord Voldemort, who launched a brutal takeover of the Wizarding world, only to vanish after failing to kill Harry.

Though Harry's first year at Hogwarts is the best of his life, not everything is perfect. There is a dangerous secret object hidden within the castle walls, and Harry believes it's his responsibility to prevent it from falling into evil hands. But doing so will bring him into contact with forces more terrifying than he ever could have imagined.

Full of sympathetic characters, wildly imaginative situations, and countless exciting details, the first installment in the series assembles an unforgettable magical world and sets the stage for many high-stakes adventures to come. "

My Review:

Every year i reread the Harry Potter books. This year i have already read the Philosopher's Stone twice, the illustrated version i buy in Lisbon 2017 book fair and i read it in August and now i received in a monthly subscription box the exclusive Ravenclaw House Edition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first publication of this book and since i'm participating in a challenge called Pottermania2 i decided to reread again.

First let me talk a little about this two editions of this book.

All my Harry Potter books are in Portuguese (my natural language) and of course when i see the illustrated version i want to buy it too. The book is a little expensive and i delay the buy for a long time, in the book fair there is a hour per day where book released more than 15 months ago have a discount of 50% so i decided that the time to buy this book has finally arrived.
The book cost a total of 34.90 € (about 31.44£) and i end up buying it for 17.45 € and OMG i really love it.

The illustrations are breathtaking and it makes us fell a little more magic when reading it because of them. There are design in almost ever page and here i leave some of my favorite ones.

The second edition i read this year is the Ravenclaw House Edition, released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and of course the color of the cover and the pages ends are blue in my book.
There are 4 different covers for this edition depending on the house you choose and i love this type of personalized stuff and the attention to details.

In the beginning and end of each book we have a few extra pages with curiosities about the house (Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffindor) like house ghost, founder where do the common room is located, etc....

I really like both versions and i know some people will think me crazy because in the end these are the same book that i already have.... but for me is so much more that a book and i would not fell that my collection is completed without these two books.

About the actual story what can i say.... This is the first book in the Harry Potter saga where we readers are introduced to the magic of this world and to all the amazing characters that Rowling create.

For me it is always be a emotional book and it will always be magical and special, of course the Wow factor that i obtain from the first time i read it is now absent in the rereads, just because i already know the twists and plots of the story. This do not prejudice my reading a bit and i have to tell that i really like to reread this one and be extremely careful to find all the little clues the author gives in this book for what is to come in the saga.

When i think of it, OMG, the intricate work that was behind this book and the imagination Rowling have.... i'm speechless really.

I could not give this one 5* but definitely i gave it 4 or maybe 4.5* just because of all the book i think this is the only a little childish.
But for those of you (and i do not think there is many) that never hear about Harry Potter please read this book and welcome to Hogwarts!

Book Review: The Substitute (The Wedding Pact #1) by Denise Grover Swank

The Substitute

by Denise Grover Swank

"Megan Vandemeer meant to tell her parents about her broken engagement, but a month and a half later she finds herself boarding a plane home to her wedding. Having stretched avoidance to its limits, it's time to come clean--a terrifying prospect since her mother is sure to blame her rather than her cheating, emotionally frigid ex. A couple of drinks and two Dramamine later, Megan finds herself spilling her sob story to the tall, dark, and handsome stranger in the seat next to her.

With only one week left to save his business, Josh McMillan boards a plane to Kansas City in a last-ditch effort, leaving the details to chance. An unexpected answer is delivered in the form of the beautiful brunette beside him. Though she’s completely loopy, her honesty, openness, and humor charm him. So when she passes out before landing, he helps her off the plane--a good deed that leads to a colossal misunderstanding. Her parents assume he’s her fiancé. In a twist of fate, the mix-up might help Josh save his business, so he plays along, figuring he can help Megan too. All he has to do is stage a public break up convincing enough to appease her mother.

Josh is only supposed to be a substitute groom, but the more time he and Megan spend together, the more their pretend engagement starts to feel real…and the less they want to break it off. Can a relationship that began as a farce turn into happily ever after?"

My Review:

Again this is a book that reminded me of the Sunday afternoon romantic comedies movies and i really like this one.

Megan break up with her fiance after she catch him cheating on her with his secretary but she did not have the guts to tell her parents that little detail so she is now in a plane to her own wedding.
Josh is in deep trouble, he creates a new device that will gain his company a great deal but the patent is given to another firm just because his brother lost the papers with the project in a torrid night with a young lady, now he must discover evidence that the project was stolen before it is to late for his employees.
They meet each other in the plane and after Megan pass out josh carry her out and end up as her fake fiance, but in a twist of fate he discover that she is the daughter of the other firms top investor so he decided to go with it.

Later in the book we can see the adventures of this to characters as they fall in love with each other and at the same time have interior struggles about it. I have to tell you guys that for me is a little difficult to accept and understand the part of "fall in love" just after 4 days of meeting one another  but i choose to ignore that little detail and i really like the book.

As for the character i love Megan's Grandmother and i pass all book "hating" her mother but at the final chapter i complete change my heart and i fell so sorry for her when i understand what she is been through.

I am now anxious to know the story of Blair and i have to say i will definitely enjoy seeing that woman fall in love and bite her own tong =D
I decided to give this book 4 out of 5*  and if you need a good laugh and a relaxing read i recommend this one to you.
